Awards and honors

WAGES and its affiliated cooperatives have received various awards, recognitions, and certificates for their commitment to dignified work and the environment. Over the years this commitment has dramatically improved the lives of the cooperative member/owners and created a network of successful green businesses to better Bay Area communities.   • 2008 Arthur Jackson Diversity in Business Award, San Francisco Bay Guardian newspaper Small Business Awards: WAGES was one of seven awardees chosen for this award recognizing innovative small businesses.

  • 2008 Impact Award, Inner City Advisors, Inner City Advisors is an ally organization that helps Bay Area businesses grow and create quality jobs in inner-city communities.

  • 2008 “District 5 Jewel,” Oakland City Council President Ignacio De La Fuente’s District 5 Connection: WAGES was recognized as a Jewel of Oakland for its long service to local residents.

  • 2006 Oaklandish Innovators Award: WAGES received this award recognizing trail blazing community work in the East Bay Area.

  • 1999 Social Equity for Sustainability, Peninsula Conservation Center Foundation Business Environmental Awards: WAGES received this award recognizing it’s outstanding programs. Programs are judged on their leadership, environmental benefits, demonstrated program commitment, potential as a model for the business community and collaborative efforts.
