Our
Vision:
To
preserve the environment and promote the health of our customers
and ourselves. We hope to share with our customers what we have
learned so that they may be more informed and environmentally responsible.
We have formed this cooperative based on our desire to support our
families and be economically self-sufficient. When our cooperative
is successful, we wish to help other women start their own businesses.
Our
History:
Emma’s
Eco-Clean opened its doors on Earth Day 1999. We started with five
founding members who participated in a yearlong business training
program through WAGES (Women’s Action to Gain Economic Security).
We also completed 75 hours of rigorous industrial training from
an expert in San Francisco who has her own least-toxic housecleaning
business. Since opening, our cooperative has grown to 11 members
and with WAGES, was awarded a 1999 Silicon Valley Environmental
Business Award from the Peninsula Conservation Center Foundation.
We were also nominated for a 2001 San Mateo County Sustainability
Award.We make decisions collectively and jointly participate in
the administration of our business. We have formed our own internal
training program that empowers us to train new members of the cooperative
ourselves. We strongly emphasize providing educational opportunities
to our owners so they can obtain skills in business management as
well as ecologically sound housecleaning.

In the Kitchen, we will:
- Remove
cobwebs
- Empty
trash
- Clean
the inside of the microwave
- Wash
windows in front of the sink
- Clean
stovetop
- Remove
spots from cabinets and refrigerator doors
- Wash
walls at eye level
- Clean
electrical appliances
- Sweep
and mop the floor
In
the Bathroom, we will:
- Remove
cobwebs
- Wash
the walls and floor
- Disinfect
the entire toilet
- Clean
the bathtub and shower
- Polish
mirrors
- Scour
the sink
- Empty
trash
- Remove
fingerprints
- Sweep
and mop the floor
- Remove
mold and mildew
We
then offer thorough dusting and vacuuming throughout the rest of
the house/building and cater to any special requests (ovens, refrigerator,
blinds, windows, ceilings, walls, etc.) you might have.
