Volunteer with WAGES

WAGES seeks enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in working to create more sustainable green jobs with business co-ownership for low–income Latinas. 

Help us grow our impact and while gaining experience in the non-profit sector. As a WAGES volunteer you are supporting a small, innovative organization committed to the social and economic empowerment of low-income Latina immigrants. Below are some of the areas where we can use your help.

Fundraising:

* Identifying funding sources

* Conceiving and executing strategies to secure necessary funding

* Maintaining a fundraising database and

* Researching grant opportunities

Events:

* Conceptualizing and coordinating fundraising events

Communications:

* Contacting local media outlets

* Updating WAGES' materials

* Writing articles for our e-newsletter

* Taking photos at events

* Creating graphics for print and web materials

 

Hours: 5-20 hours per week

Schedule: flexible and based on availability

Location: 1904 Franklin Street, Oakland CA 94612 (near 19th Street BART)

 

Requirements:

* Desire to learn about or experience in working with nonprofit organizations

* Familiarity with issues facing low-income women, including basic knowledge of economic justice issues

* Interest in cooperative business development and environmental justice
