On the evening of Wednesday, October 27th, nearly 200 WAGES supporters gathered to celebrate 15 years of success in creating healthy, dignified jobs for low-income women. It was a remarkable evening in which co-op members, staff, board, and supporters were able to connect, to experience moving stories from our members, leaders, and key partners, and to learn about WAGES' 3-year plan for expansion.
Highlights of the evening included:
- A fun and festive reception, organic dinner, and lively conversation amongst the community of WAGES supporters. Check out the pictures from the event here.
- A celebration of WAGES' first 15 years including personal testimony from members of our cooperatives. See the video testimony from Bertha Naranjo of Eco-Care Profesional Housecleaning online now on our YouTube Channel.
- Announcement of WAGES' goals for 2011-2013 which include launching three new cooperatives in the Bay Area, expanding beyond the Bay with the launch of our first cooperative in a new region, and increasing the depth of our impact in women's lives by increasing resources for social and professional development for co-op members. Stay tuned for more information on our plans in the next few months!
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, WAGES' quinceañera (sweet fifteen) raised over $70,000 to support our continued growth. We are deeply grateful to all who have contributed for your belief in our work and commitment to creating economic opportunity for immigrant women.
Many thanks to all who came out to celebrate with us!
