Social Empowerment

WAGES offers every woman in our network of worker-owner cooperatives the opportunity to participate in the Peer Leadership Program (PLP), WAGES’ leadership development program.

The number of women who participate in the leadership program varies, with members selected from a pool of applicants drawn from each co-op. Participants receive intensive coaching and training in leadership skills, assume responsibilities in training other members, and represent their peers and WAGES in the public eye and at community events.

WAGES also provides referrals for co-op members to partner with community organizations that specialize in outreach, education, and resources for low-income and immigrant women. Co-op members receive skills-training in a variety of areas, including language and technology education and instruction.
