Community Education

WAGES strives to share the many benefits of our cooperative model of empowerment to our communities and supporters. Our staff engages in opportunities to educate the public about our programs through local forums, mass media outlets, local and national conferences, and meetings with congressional staff on Capitol Hill. Recent events include Bay Localize's Roots of Resilience celebration, the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development "Workforce Forum," and the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies Conference in Seattle.

Throughout the year, WAGES also holds Community Education Workshops, which provide information to the general public about the health benefits of environmentally responsible cleaning and help our efforts to recruit potential co-op members. Co-op members participate in leading these workshops, honing their public speaking and leadership skills. We educate the general public about safer cleaning products and practices through our participation in a variety of community and public events, such as the San Francisco Green Festival, and through the distribution of our e-newsletter and our bi-annual print newsletter.
