Economic Empowerment

WAGES creates innovative business opportunities for low-income women workers, and connects the co-op members to services like financial training and access to capital to build self-sufficiency.

Women who have healthy, dignified work in the WAGES cooperatives earn:

  • Above-market incomes (50-100% more than most workers have earned in previous jobs) and substantial increases in family income (more than 50% on average)
  • A range of benefits, including medical and dental insurance, short and long term disability insurance, and paid time off.
  • Opportunities to build life skills, including vocational and business skills.
  • Access to financial services, such as Individual Development Accounts and no-interest loans.
